My journey as a woodworker began with the first dulcimer I built, and dulcimers remain my favorite to build to this day.
The dulcimers I am building now represent decades of refinement of both technique and features.
Dark Hollow Dulcimers are made, set up, and given final adjustment individually by hand.
They have a true diatonic fretboard, which is easiest for beginners to learn, and preferred by many experienced players. Extra frets are available on custom instruments.
They have a floating bridge with a compensated saddle for the best possible intonation. The floating bridge resting on the soundboard yields a louder instrument with a sweet voice with great clarity. The bridge can be fitted to rest on the fretboard, giving a more subtle, subdued, and traditional sound.
They are available set up for either DAD or CGC or AAD tuning
Dark Hollow Dulcimers are professional quality instruments that are well suited for stage and studio.

Custom orders require a 50% deposit, the remainder due upon completion of your order. Expect a two to three month lead time for custom orders.
